![]() Things with Lucas fuel pumps? Not so good (from experience 205 1.9D & 106 1.5D). Sorry, it's not a very well organised post, but it's late. Fuel economy was about 1-2mpg down on the standard, but the trade-off was better power (not measured but felt) and no black smoke. This was running a 95% veg oil, 5% methanol 0.5% sodium hydroxide mix. The fuel lines also need to be nylon (or at least not rubber). I changed the fuel filter every six months and checked the spill pipes regularly. ![]() The Golf I've just sold ran on it for two years and loved it as a fuel. While buying my biodiesel, I've seen the following modern machinery fill up Smart Four Two, Pug/Citroen Dispatch (from the local motor factors), Landies, Rangies, BMWs, Corsas, and have personally used it in an LT35 VW transporter for about 800 miles with no problem. More modern PD/Common Rail engines? It depends, and my experience of these is more limited. Both of these suffered fuel pump failure. Old Indirect Injection diesels with Bosch fuel pumps? No problem (from experience, AX 1.5D, Passat 1.6 TD, Mk2 Golf GTD, Audi 80 TD). ![]() Yes, I have done for about 6 years (up until last Tuesday when I sold my Derv).Īs previously mentioned, Biodiesel can be any mix of veg oil from 5% (what you can buy in the supermarket already as 'diesel') up to a 95% veg oil/methanol/sodium hydroxide blend.įrom my experience, using it will depend on the car and the fuel. ![]()
